Homemade Finger Paint

Homemade Finger Paint

I am all about finding ways to let my daughters be creative using safe ingredients. Here is a great recipe I found a few years ago that has become our go to recipe for painting. It’s easy to make and safe! If your kids decide that the beautiful colors of the paint look appetizing, they are free to taste away.

Homemade Finger Paint:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 4 1/2 cups water
  • gel food coloring (use the gel so that the food coloring won’t dye your little ones hands)

Add the water and salt to a pot over medium heat. Slowly add the flour while using a whisk to mix making sure there are no lumps. Once the mixture starts to thicken turn down the heat to low and continue stirring with the whisk until you get the right consistency for finger paint. (the paint will be thick)

Use a muffin tray (or whatever you want to put the paint in) and scoop a few spoonful’s into each section. Add two drops of food coloring and mix. You can always add a few more drops if you want a deeper color. Stir well.

If you don’t want to use all of the paint, put some in the fridge for another day. It will keep for about 5 days.

Set up a painting area and have fun! We use our hands, paint brushes and foam cut outs. Use whatever you want to let your kids be creative.

Live, Laugh, Love,

Kristin
